SERVPRO Facilitates the Assessment of Flood Damage in Santa Ana

Don't let flood damage take over your property, Call SERVPRO of Santa Ana South / SERVPRO of Santa Ana North at (714) 558-7772.

Factors Influencing Santa Ana Flood Mitigation Methods

When flooding occurs, homeowners must overcome various obstacles to return to the usual safe and normal living space. You may have to deal with unsanitary conditions, costly property repairs, and a lengthy cleanup process. Whether dealing with a minor or significant flood event, you should ensure it is safe to return to your Santa Ana home as floods can occur repeatedly.

When planning a flood damage cleanup in Santa Ana homes, it is crucial to consider the water source and potential hazards. Water harms building components, and some materials may contain hazardous substances such as asbestos or lead-based paint. SERVPRO evaluates the affected area before disturbing or removing the damaged materials.

Floodwaters pose hazards such as:

  • Structural hazards
  • Electrical hazards
  • Slip, trip, and fall hazards

Some cleanup procedures and damages may create trip, slip, and fall hazards. Also, hoses and power cables may tangle during the cleaning and drying. We post warning signs to alert other workers and occupants and tape down or gather cords with a Velcro belt or a zip tie. Materials such as drywall may weaken after moisture absorption, creating a hazard for everyone.

Factors influencing flood damage:

  • Flow velocity
  • The duration
  • Sediment concentration
  • Quality of external response

To properly restore structure and contents after a flood incident in your home, you ought to know how moisture affects different materials. Exposure time and permeability are the two significant factors that determine the level of damage in materials. SERVPRO understands that time is an essential consideration for restoration.

Moisture On Flooring

Floors usually take a beating during a flood. Wooden floors, when exposed to excess moisture, expand. Expanded boards tend to push against each other, buckling at the joint depending on the type of wood and the amount of water absorbed. The panels may also warp. The warping and buckling could be long-term once the wood dries, thus needing replacement.

SERVPRO of Santa Ana South / SERVPRO of Santa Ana North provides thorough and complete flood damage cleanup, giving you peace of mind when you return home. Call us at (714) 558-7772. We're Faster To Any Size Disaster.

The clean-up after a storm can be a time-consuming challenge.

How Professionals Handle Flood Damage In Santa Ana

The Santa Ana area often has high winds during the fall and winter. In fact, “Santa Ana” is the name given to these strong windstorms. The constant winds dry out vegetation and increase the risk of wildfires. Then the rainy season begins, and flash floods are possible. When previous fires clear out brush and trees, flooding can be severe. Our company can help.

Flood damage in Santa Ana might include some mudslides and lots of garbage in the water. The water coming into homes can contain a lot of dead plants and tree branches. Animals caught in the flooding can die and add their bodies to the muddy water. Homeowners need to worry about the health risks of the dirty floodwater. The workers we hire know how to keep you safe from contaminated water.

SERVPRO crews carefully plan how to remove the dirty floodwaters. We have pumps and water extractors on our trucks at all times. The crew leader decides how to get the water out of the lower levels of your house. Workers follow the directions. Because the water is full of dirt and bad things like viruses and bacteria, we need to pump or extract it into containers. Then the containers are disposed of by following hazardous waste rules.

We use EPA registered disinfectants to treat the areas of your house that were full of floodwater. The garbage in the water can include raw sewage, food and animals, chemicals, and other things that could be dangerous. SERVPRO sanitizes the flooded spaces after removing the water. We then begin to dry out the property.

SERVPRO uses air movers, heaters, and dehumidifiers to dry out your property. Drying out the wet spaces is important. If the wetness stays, mold can grow and damage your home. Fast action is needed because mold can begin to grow in 24 to 48 hours.

SERVPRO of Santa Ana South has expert workers who can clean up your home after a flash flood. We take calls at (714) 558-7772 all day, every day. Call right away after the flood because more damage happens the longer you wait.

Contact SERVPRO today for assistance with storm flood damage in your Santa Ana home. We have the tools and skilled technicians you need.

SERVPRO Technicians Bring Years of Experience and Expertise to Water Damage Restoration Services in Santa Ana

Floodwater removal in a Santa Ana home may conjure up images of deep standing water; however, this type of water damage can happen in numerous scenarios. One of the most common is a broken window during a storm or mistakenly left open when the property owner is not at home. Signs of water damage to sheetrock include:

  • Sloughing off of layers
  • Buckling and warping
  • Wet portions falling off

A Santa Ana homeowner faced with flood damage cleanup after a window gets left open during torrential rains may notice that the drywall around the window buckles and warps rapidly. Once this process begins, the ruined portion of the drywall requires removal. SERVPRO technicians measure around the area of elevated moisture within the wall and remove only the damaged area, including removal of the insulation. This leaves the rest of the wall intact and stops any further wicking of the water.

The technicians scope around the window where the water entered to ensure that there is no seepage under the floor, wet carpet, or additional issue that requires addressing during the water restoration services.

Once the area gets dried, the technicians can offer restoration services to the homeowner. The area around the window can have new drying that gets primed and painted in the color of the homeowner's choosing. Once SERVPRO completes the job for the homeowner, the storm damage will be "Like it never even happened."

Storm Damage Preparation for Santa Ana Residents

Californians often consider certain local weather patterns unique to our state – the hot, humid summers, the wide temperature fluctuations in the spring and fall, and all types of strange weather, including fires, wind storms, and rainstorms. Even if you watch the weather report on television every morning, California weather can surprise you, and before you know it, you're dealing with storm damage to clean up.

Storm Damage Preparedness Tips

First, put our number on your phone: (714) 558-7772.  If you're in a situation where a storm has damaged your Santa Ana home, you'll likely get your loved ones out, and you may be sitting in your car or at the neighbor's house wondering what to do next.  When you have SERVPRO's number handy, we can be ready for you!

Next, consider your insurance.  Do you have the right kind?  Consumers usually shop for the best price, but we need to find the best value around here because nearly every Californian has to deal with damage to their home or vehicle at some point.  Ask your agent what your coverage is like if you suffer storm damage.  What about flooding? Should you consider adding flood insurance?

The next project to tackle is to take an inventory of your personal property.  There are tools available for your phone or tablet that can simplify the process of documenting your belongings.

Leaking Roof from Storms

Take a look around your home, and make sure that everything is secure.  Make a visual inspection of your roof and look for any potential problems.  Ensure any carports or porches are secured to the home and their posts are fastened to the ground.

Finally, as you watch the weather, when you know there is a storm approaching, make sure your yard is clear.  Secure outdoor furniture, and make certain gardening tools are put away.  Anything left out can become a missile in high winds, and a few minutes of care can remove these dangers.

If you do suffer storm damage, then we're here to help.  Call SERVPRO of Santa Ana South at (714) 558-7772. We'll work with you and your insurance company to help make it "Like it never even happened."

Feeling Uncertain About the Sanitary State of Your Santa Ana Home After Flood Damage?

3/23/2021 (Permalink)

When your Santa Ana home needs stormwater removal, call the experts at SERVPRO--don't stay flooded out!

SERVPRO Offers In-Depth Intervention to Restore Santa Ana Properties to Their Pre-loss Condition

Flooding may not be as common as it was in the early days before the Santa Ana River was tamed. However, flooding still occurs periodically, leaving many residents uncertain, especially about their homes' sanitary state.  If done correctly, cleaning should restore the preloss sanitary conditions in your home.

After a flood damage incident in Santa Ana properties, most residents are concerned about the contamination of porous materials. However, even non-porous surfaces might pose decontamination challenges. SERVPRO is a biohazard cleaning company that follows specific guidelines to ensure thorough cleaning of affected properties, including:

  • Ensuring sufficient dwell time for disinfectants and antimicrobial products
  • Ensuring cleaning products spread thoroughly
  • Rinsing all cleaned areas fully

The actions may seem trivial, but they have a significant impact on the outcome. For instance, if the disinfectant or other cleansing agent does not get at least 10 minutes of contact with the contaminants, its effectiveness is minimal.

Applying the product using a method of thorough dispersion, such as spraying with an electric or pump sprayer, ensures physical contact for the chemical agent and all contaminated assemblies, fixtures, and contents.

For an in-depth water cleanup of your property after flood damage, involve SERVPRO of Santa Ana South | SERVPRO of Santa Ana North. You can reach us at (714) 558-7772.

3 Flood Prevention Steps for Businesses

11/16/2020 (Permalink)

Planting native trees and shrubs reduces soil erosion caused by moving water

Here Are Three Steps To Get You Started

Preparing for a flood is probably not something you think about every day. Businesses tend to focus on day-to-day operations and how to make a profit. Unfortunately, major storms and hurricanes don’t give business owners advance notice. Intense rain and flowing surface water can quickly cause extensive water damage to buildings. Fortunately, flood prevention strategies don’t have to be complex or time-consuming. Here are three steps to get you started.

1. Know Your Risk
The first step is to determine your flood risk. Some areas are high-risk because they are prone to flooding. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) provides a flood map to help people understand their level of risk. This knowledge can help businesses make an appropriate flood plan. Another term to understand is base flood elevation. Buildings should be constructed at a minimum of three feet above this level to minimize the effects of flood damage. Even if your Santa Ana, CA, property is located in an area with low or moderate risk, consider purchasing flood insurance to protect your business.

2. Use Defense Methods
All businesses should employ flood prevention strategies to minimize harm. Defense methods include retention ponds, retaining walls and dry floodproofing techniques (e.g., sandbags, watertight shields, flood gates, etc.). Your city planning department can be a valuable resource for understanding what flood planning and building codes are in place to reduce water damage.

3. Plant Native Trees and Shrubs
Many people are unaware that proper vegetation can help lessen the damaging effects of a flood. Planting native trees and shrubs reduces soil erosion caused by moving water. Vegetation also breaks the force of moving flood water. Educate yourself about the various types of vegetation that can be beneficial in your area.
These flood prevention steps are a great start to preparing your business for a major storm or flood. If your business does experience flood damage, a restoration company can perform flood cleaning.

How To Make a Flood Damage Claim

10/23/2020 (Permalink)

Home flooded

Three Steps To File A Flood Claim

If disaster strikes and your home in Santa Ana, CA, suffers damage from a flood, there are ways to recover. Tricky cleanup can be accomplished with the help of storm damage restoration specialists. Following these three steps to file a flood claim with your insurance can help you recover financially so that you can replace items lost beyond repair and accomplish any necessary rebuilding.

1. Contact Your Insurance Provider Immediately
Contact your insurance as soon as possible after a flood and note the specific steps required to file your insurance claim. As soon as everyone is safe and the floodwaters have receded, begin cleaning up what you are able to do on your own. Salvage what you can and begin small repairs. You do not need to wait for an insurance adjuster to visit before making your home safe, but take pictures to document the damage and the process of your restoration.

2. Keep Damaged Items
Keep all damaged items until the adjuster visits. Having these items as proof of loss will help your flood claim. You can remove damaged belongings from your home, but save these items so that the adjuster can document the losses.

3. Report Additional Losses
The adjuster will review your damage and losses, as well as any documentation and photographs you have regarding your cleanup and repairs. As part of this visit, you should have to sign a statement of loss. Be sure to give reliable contact information as well as taking the adjuster's. If you find additional damage and losses after the visit, contact the adjuster to report it as soon as possible.
If your property is damaged in a flood, check with your insurance provider to see if you are covered and then follow the required steps to file your flood claim. If you don't have flood insurance and the flood has been declared a federal disaster, check with FEMA to see if any help is available to you.

Survive a Disaster With Business Interruption Insurance

9/5/2020 (Permalink)

One of the best types of protection comes in the form of business interruption insurance

Types Of Protection

As a business owner in Santa Ana, CA, you're probably already aware that you need insurance for the safety of your property, inventory, equipment, and other elements of your business. Without the right insurance, after all, you could never rebuild after a devastating natural disaster or other huge commercial loss. One of the best types of protection comes in the form of business interruption insurance. Of course, you may already have some of the following types of protection:

  • Professional liability insurance
  • Property insurance
  • Workers' compensation policies
  • Product liability insurance

Each of these types of coverage offers business protection in unique ways. For example, if an employee is injured while working, workers' compensation coverage helps with medical coverage and lost wages.

Get Compensation for Missed Revenue
Business interruption insurance is specific coverage the protects your business when disasters force you to shut your doors temporarily. Even if you only miss a couple of days, you could suffer a large amount of lost income. This type of insurance provides you with compensation for the lost business income you would have earned if the disaster hadn't happened. It's important to understand that there are limitations to this coverage.

Prepare for High-Risk Situations
You may have other policies that help you rebuild any physical damage to your closed business. Interruption insurance compensates you for lost profits during the time that you aren't able to operate. Before you can purchase this coverage, you need to accurately track your net income. Talk this over with your accountant because the amount of your net profit during normal business operations could affect the amount of compensation you qualify for during a major event that closes your doors.
It's also important to consider the most likely scenarios for business closure. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, for example, you need to include interruption coverage for flooding (and should also have a flood policy in place in your general policy.

Keep Up With Financial Obligations
When water, fire, storms, or other disasters shut your doors and force you to move operations elsewhere, you'll need some type of compensation to stay afloat as fire and water damage professionals put your office back together. While you wait during this rebuild process, rely on your business coverage to pay employees and keep up with other financial responsibilities.

Preventing Mold After Flooding

Storm cleanup in Santa Ana, CA

Take Preventative Measures

Water damage to your property and mold infestation often go hand in hand. If your Santa Ana, CA  home has sustained significant flood damage, restoring your property promptly should be a priority. Moisture has likely entered porous materials in hour house, such as wood or drywall, so mold growth is a virtual certainty unless you take preventative measures.

1. Relocate Valuables
Your sentimental or valuable belongings may be particularly vulnerable to storm damage. Move all art or electronics to a higher, drier place. Rugs and other loose possessions should be moved shortly thereafter in order to prevent the development of harmful molds.

2. Assess the Extent of Flood Damage
The severity of flooding events can vary widely. Sometimes, water seeps into or beneath visible surfaces, creating structural instability and mold-friendly conditions without your knowledge. After a severe storm, you should always perform a thorough examination of your home to avoid missing any hidden signs of water infiltration. If water has completely inundated your home, contact a water restoration professional who can provide special equipment and expertise to your cleanup effort.

3. Ventilation and Dehumidification
The best way to prevent mold growth in your home is to make sure that all spaces that have been exposed to moisture are properly dried and ventilated. Setting up a commercial dehumidifier can effectively accomplish this, however, using a moisture monitor is the only way to be sure that your space is acceptably rid of wetness. Remediation professionals have access to dehumidifying equipment and will be able to determine if your property has already been infested with mold. You may be advised to test your home periodically after a major flooding event.
When you restore your household after a storm, understand that time and effort spent now can save you many headaches in the future. Mold removal can be difficult and expensive, so preventing serious mold growth before it starts is critical.

3 Causes of Crawl Space Flooding and How To Fix Them

5/5/2020 (Permalink)

Be proactive by regularly examining your crawlspace for water, particularly after other storm damage

3 Causes of Crawl Space Flooding and How To Fix Them

Your crawl space is great for a variety of things, like storing holiday decorations and those Rollerblades you swear you’ll use again someday. Unfortunately, it’s also excellent for harboring hidden water. A home flood is just one way that water can infiltrate your crawl space. Here are three other common causes and how to detect them.

1. Dirty Gutters and Disconnected Downspouts
Your gutters and downspouts have one job: to move water away from your Santa Ana, CA, home. If your gutters are full of debris, their collected water can spill over and be delivered directly to the base of your house. Similarly, disconnected or inadvertently moved downspouts can cause water to pool near your foundation.
To keep water out of your crawl space, clean your gutters, and check on your downspouts’ placement regularly. This is especially important if you have children or pets.

2. Landscape Erosion
Over time, erosion can flatten your yard’s slope. When this happens, water no longer runs away from your foundation; instead, it can pool there and start to seep into your crawl space.
To check for grading issues, inspect your home’s perimeter, paying attention to the soil. If you spot any accumulated water or obvious depressions, it may be a sign that water’s entering your home at the site. To prevent a home flood, build the soil back up.

3. Underground Water
After a torrential rain or massive snowmelt, it’s possible for groundwater to rise and penetrate your crawl space. Damaged or clogged drains, broken pipes, and ruptured city water lines can also lead to problems with subterrestrial water. These issues are largely beyond your control, but you can be proactive by regularly examining your crawlspace for water, particularly after other storm damage. Promptly calling a water damage mitigation company can prevent underground water issues from escalating as well.
A home flood is the most obvious way that water can enter your crawl space, but it’s not the only one. Regular inspections of your home and yard can help you identify potential headaches before they become big problems. For water, you simply can’t avoid, enlist the help of an experienced restoration company.

How to Properly Maintain the Roof of Your Building

3/31/2020 (Permalink)

You can avoid a lot of water damage by waterproofing your roof

If you own commercial property, you know how important it is to maintain the building. This provides a comfortable, safe place for people to work. It also adds value to your investment and is an attractive option for prospective tenants. Over time, parts of the building will start to show its age and wear out. Fortunately, the roof should do its job well and last for up to 30 years or more, depending on its type. You can do your part to minimize roof damage by focusing on key repair and maintenance efforts.

Typical Causes of Problems

A roof won't last forever, especially if you neglect it. Sometimes, outside forces can cause roof damage, leaving your building vulnerable to flooding and other issues. Here are some common reasons your roof could suffer damage:

  • Severe hailstorms
  • Heavy winds damaging the roofing material
  • Heavy winds knocking trees onto the roof

Inspect Often

You may never detect wind damage or other weather-related issues for months or even years if you never bother to look at the roof. Smart building owners in Santa Ana, CA, inspect their roof at least once a year. Get on the roof during good weather and look for any signs of problems.

Repair Issues Promptly

During your inspections, if you spot damage, don't wait to address the repair needs. Whether it requires a roof rebuild or some simple updates, you need to act quickly. Procrastinating these needs can lead to roof leaks or more significant physical damage.

Waterproof It

Even small roof leaks can lead to flooding in your building. A reputable professional flood cleanup company can restore your building. However, you can avoid a lot of water damage by waterproofing your roof. Several types of products are available to stand up to rain and snow.
You can largely avoid roof damage by following these guidelines. Start today by being vigilant and diligent.

SERVPRO Explica a Los Propietarios de Santa Ana Cuestiones Relacionadas de Tormentas, Mitigación y Restauración

12/11/2019 (Permalink)

Don’t Invite Microbes Into Your Santa Ana Home

It is hard to anticipate what natural disasters may affect Santa Ana in any given month. Our ability to cope with emergencies seems to be put to the test often these days. As homeowners, our best defense is to anticipate what the recovery process could look like and plan accordingly. This post-emergency plan has to include a series of reputable professionals such as general contractors, electricians, and plumbers, but it also has to include a team of people able to restore the water damage in your home.

For storm and water removal services in Santa Ana, you can count on SERVPRO. Our crew trains in the classroom and on the field to handle the toughest jobs following a torrential downpour or flash flood. As you prepare your emergency kit, make sure to include our 24/7 hotline in your roster of service providers and call us as soon as you can. Even better, contact us to schedule a visit to your home to develop an ERP--the Emergency READY Profile Plan. This mobile app can help prevent and mitigate water and fire emergency incidents. When these unfortunate instances happen, our water restoration technicians (WRT) don their personal protective equipment and arrive at the job site as soon as it is safe to do so.

One of the most troublesome issues after a storm prompts water to enter your home is that of microbes. Whenever there is standing water inside or surrounding your home, mold, and bacteria find a suitable environment in which to multiply and flourish. As long as there are excess moisture and a relatively warm temperature, your home becomes an ideal ecosystem for mold to increase. Our expertise at SERVPRO prompts us to control not only the growth of bacteria but also, most importantly, the source of moisture that is feeding it. This knowledge translates into a restoration job that goes beyond spraying a solution to prevent microbial growth. Instead, we apply our industry-grade equipment to achieve optimal moisture levels and remove any contaminated items from your home.

SERVPRO of Santa Ana South should be part of your emergency recovery plan. Our expertise and preparedness to deal with disaster scenarios prepare us to guide you through the restoration process as seamlessly as possible. Call us at (714) 558-7772 and let us work with you until we leave your home, “Like it never even happened.”

Should I Remain in my Santa Ana Home During the Flood Damage Restoration Process?

10/8/2019 (Permalink)

We made flood cuts to help dry this room. Once completely dry, we restored the room to its preloss condition.

Flood Damage in Santa Ana:  Should I Stay, or Should I Go?

Life in Santa Ana means being vigilant of Mother Nature. As homeowners, we are increasingly mindful of weather conditions and how they might affect our daily lives. Fire, flooding, and devastating winds can all be present in our region, and being prepared is crucial. Professional restoration services in Santa Ana are readily available.  Knowing whom to call in case of emergency is the frontline defense for property owners.

Imagine for a minute that there is flood damage to your Santa Ana home. With little or no warning, floodwaters have made their way through your doors and leaving you with a visible reminder of the occasion. Aside from the visible debris, you may not be able to see the contaminants hiding in the water. Luckily, SERVPRO water restoration technicians (WRT) train to address situations like yours, tackling tangible and intangible threats to your home and family.

One of the necessary steps in addressing flood damage is deciding whether to move out of your home or not. Our SERVPRO team can help frame that decision by providing alternative strategies focused on mitigating the time and money you spend as a result of the flooding. For example, our team may recommend a partial move-out if there is an area of your home where we can safely store your belongings. Ideally, we would lessen the number of times your things are handled by cleaning them before storing them in another area. However, if this delays water extraction or drying efforts, we may move all items and conduct the cleanup in the satellite spot. When floodwaters permeate porous materials such as upholstery, very often we dispose of them for your safety. This removal can also be done at this stage to facilitate the ultimate goal- drying and disinfecting your home.

Flood damage can be overwhelming, but our SERVPRO of Santa Ana South staff is here to help. Our training and expertise come to your rescue by breaking down each of the steps necessary to restore your home. Trust us by calling (714) 558-7772 and allowing us to leave your home, “Like it never even happened.”

Professionals Give Tips to Dry Flood Damaged Homes in Santa Ana

7/23/2019 (Permalink)

Did the recent storms cause it to rain inside your home? Call SERVPRO of Santa Ana South to quickly dry your home!

A Small Opening for a Big Problem

Wind and storms have made their way through California often in the last couple of years. We have all seen the devastation left in their wake and have fearfully watched entire homes being carried away by the elements. However, flood damage does not always imply the total loss of your home. Very often, a shattered window or broken roof becomes the opening for floodwater to enter your home, bringing debris and pollution with it.

If flood damage reaches your Santa Ana home, you must be ready to act quickly. SERVPRO operates around the clock so we can respond to your emergency as soon as it happens; all you need to do is call our expert team. Our water restoration technicians (WRT) are certified by the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) to apply the latest remediation techniques available to the industry. Our academic preparation, coupled with our field experience, lets us identify top priorities and act accordingly.

Before we arrive at your home, you may want to isolate the water-filled area as much as possible. Plastic sheeting or other impermeable material can help create a divide, so damage does not extend to other parts of your home. Upon arrival, our SERVPRO crew inspects the damage and disposes of any non-salvageable materials; typically carpeting, upholstery, or other materials that soak up water. Moving these items out of your home helps curtail the proliferation of bacteria brought in by the flooding.

To extract water from your home and restore humidity levels, our SERVPRO team can use one or several industry-grade tools. These may include-

- Air circulators

- Dehumidifiers

- Wand extractors

- Wet/dry vacuums

- Hygrometers

By applying industry best practices, we can eliminate water remains and proceed to disinfect your home while mitigating the risk of future damage.

No flood is too big or too small for SERVPRO of Santa Ana South. Just give us a call at (714) 558-7772 and let us leave your home, “Like it never even happened.”

SERVPRO Responds for Flood Damage Mitigation in Santa Ana

Handling Flood Damage in Santa Ana Properly

If your property is affected by floods, you are likely to face a cocktail of problems, some of which you might not even realize. The water flowing from outside the structure carries harmful chemicals, pesticides, and biohazards like raw sewage or dead animals. The water also soaks into materials such as drywall or even the house contents. Restoring the property to preloss state takes effort and time. Hiring a professional restoration team helps lift the burden.

Dealing with flood damage in Santa Ana involves different steps such as cleaning up affected areas, tearing down parts of the structure and removing water or excess moisture from the structure. The extent of each step depends on the severity of the flooding incident. When our SERVPRO crew arrives at your premises, we first inspect the property to establish which steps are necessary. We also implement safety measures such as checking whether power mains are off and spraying the affected areas with EPA-registered disinfectants to control contaminants.

Most porous materials affected by floodwaters require removal because there is no guaranteed way of decontaminating them. Items like carpets and pad fall in this category, as well as materials like drywall and insulation. When a skilled person handles the removal of these materials, it reduces the chance of damaging unaffected sections of the property. Our SERVPRO technicians perform a flood cut of two feet to four feet which is slightly above the waterline to remove affected drywall and insulation. The flood cut also allows easier access to the wall cavity for removal of moisture and for disinfecting.

Flooding creates a favorable environment for the development of microbes. The moisture in materials, as well as the increased humidity in the house, can lead to mold growth within twenty-four to forty-eight hours. Our SERVPRO technicians aim to bring down humidity levels in the house below 60% to inhibit the growth of mold. We do this by extracting pooling water and using air movers and dehumidifiers to dry wet areas.

When your home is affected by floods, call SERVPRO of Santa Ana South to assist. You can reach us at (714) 558-7772 any time. We’re Faster To Any Size Disaster.

Santa Ana Architecture Varies As Does the Treatment for Storm Damage--Get Help from SERVPRO!

Doggone It!! Another Santa Ana Storm. Call SERVPRO!!

SERVPRO Solves Problems in the Flooring of Santa Ana Homes with Flood Damage

Flood damage to your home in Santa Ana can leave many different objects and materials permanently scarred by the sheets of rushing water, but one of the most damaged parts of the house is likely to be your flooring. Wood, tile, and especially carpets can all sustain heavy damage during a flood, and the only hope of saving them is to get a professional mitigation company like SERVPRO on the site quickly to stop more damage from happening. We're Faster To Any Size Disaster. Here is a quick overview of how storm flooding may impact the different flooring materials in your home, both short and long-term.

Tile
Tile floors are usually among the most resilient materials in a Santa Ana home after flood damage, but still require some cleaning and drying after most disasters. Depending on how severe the damage is and what the tiles are made of, they may need to be cleaned, polished, or even partially replaced and re-laid. We also find it essential to dry tile floors quickly to stop the spread of mold in grout lines.

Carpets
Carpeting often sustains some of the worst damage in a flood-damaged home. While we try to preserve as much as possible, only if the wet areas are free of contaminated waters, we are often forced to replace the carpeting in large parts or all of our clients' homes. In a crawlspace home, the underlaying subfloor and structure must be dried to specific levels to ensure that no secondary damage occurs. It is especially important that we decide on a course of action quickly for carpets, as they can easily become the focal point for a mold infestation that can spread across the entire building.

Wood
Different types of wood react in different ways to water. Some might bend along their lengths, others along their widths, and some may merely shrink or expand. We incorporate specialized treatments into our drying process to make sure that any affected wood floors in your home can be restored to their original sizes and shapes. We can use drying mats to help draw out moisture from the joints and beams. Towards the end of our restoration process, we can also refinish the materials, if necessary.

SERVPRO of Santa Ana South is ready on a 24/7 basis to respond to your calls for help with flood, fire, and other types of home damage. Contact us at (714) 558-7772.

WE HAVE MOVED !

5/10/2018 (Permalink)

We are excited to announce that our team has moved to a new location in Santa Ana. We spent the past 6 years in a building about a mile away from our new location. Our old office served us well, and we made great memories there, but we could not be more excited about our new spacious warehouse! As I had mentioned before in a previous blog, a lot of new and exciting events would be coming up for our SERVPRO team, well this is one of them. Also Tom Puorro, along with his family are now complete owners of our franchise. He has also purchased another territory that will be also servicing Santa Ana, Called SERVPRO of Santa Ana North!

While we were happy with our old space, there were several motivating factors to make a move :

SPACE! When we first moved into our last office/warehouse we were small, just starting out, getting our feet wet. Six years later we now have 19 employees and counting. We have also hit our 2 Million mark in our business. Our new office offers more square footage, but more importantly it allowed us to rethink our layout. We were about to start from scratch, knock down walls (what we do best) and put up other walls that better suited our team, our company, and our customers. We now have a new spacious warehouse, with a clean room that has state of the art equipment in it. We can house our customers belongings in their individual vaults, with room to grow. We can not express enough our excitement! More space means more opportunity to service our community.

Our new office is more than just four walls, this is our new home where we will not only make many happy memories between each other but also with our many customers we will have along the way.

Our SERVPRO Family would like to thank everyone for their support through the years and with our move. Our team has been working extra hard to insure that we would be in not only a comfortable place, but a high functioning, spacious place. Also that our customers will continue to be well taken care of.  We would like to invite you to our future ribbon cutting, the date is still to be determined but it is in the plans.

Our new address is 1213 E. Hunter Ave. Santa Ana, CA, 92705

SERVPRO Santa Ana South has made a couple of changes with the start of the New Year. Tom Puorro , our fearless leader has taken full ownership of the company. Along side him he has his wife Shannon, his three daughters Britney, Kathryn, and Kaylee and his son in law Jose. Britney is our office manager, she takes all phone calls, and makes sure we are all scheduled and organized in our Emergency service department. Shannon also works in the office, she is in charge of a wide variety of tasks and runs our contents department. With all of her dedication and hard work we have become number 4 in contents out of 1700 SERVPROS. We are so proud of not only Shannon but our contents crew! They are doing an amazing job, working for us and representing us. Jose is our production manager. He is always on the go, he works early mornings and late nights to ensure all of our customers are taken care of and satisfied. You will find Kaylee also in the office, she is an assistant to Tom and handles our collections department. Kathryn is our marketing representative, you can catch her out on the go making new relationships with agents in our area! That is our family who works here at SERVPRO Santa Ana. We love being a close knit family who operates our business with love and care. We truly put our entire heart into each and every job we take on. That is why we treat all of our employees as if they are blood as well!

IICRC

Here at SERVPRO of Santa Ana we do our part in making sure all of our employees are highly certified and trained. We put them through IICRC training which is an institute of inspection cleaning and restoration certification. Here is a little bit about IICRC and why its important to SERVPRO:

The IICRC is a certification and standard-setting non-profit organization for the inspection, cleaning and restoration industries. In partnership with regional and international trade associates, the IICRC serves more than 25 countries with offices in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and Japan.

The IICRC standards serve to develop common, industry-accepted language and terminology that enables us to more universally discuss concepts and procedures regarding cleaning, inspection and restoration.

These standards are reviewed and updated at least every five years. Many of these fields, such as the water damage restoration field, change rapidly and those who are certified keep up with the advancement of the science and generally accepted practices of the industry.
